Michael Garman (1938-2021)
Artist | Sculptor | Painter

Michael Garman was an American sculptor and storyteller‑artist best known for his richly detailed figurative sculptures and immersive miniature worlds. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he began creating figures as a child and later traveled widely through North and South America, experiences that deeply influenced his work. Garman settled in Colorado Springs in the early 1970s and became a beloved local artistic figure, producing hundreds of sculptures depicting everyday people, historical figures, and scenes of Americana with narrative depth and realism. He founded the Michael Garman Museum & Gallery and created Magic Town, an expansive, intricately crafted 3,000‑square‑foot miniature city that blends sculptural detail with theatrical storytelling. Garman’s art celebrated everyday heroes and human stories, making his work both accessible and evocative.
