This amazing Rocket Race illustration was made for the cover of Clock Dial magazine. That was the corporate magazine for Dr Pepper. It features bright colorful rockets racing through finish banners. There’s also the ground crew with fueling cans all labeled Dr Pepper. Notice the rockets all have city names. They represent bottling facilities here in the southwest.
This cover featured Dr Pepper as they raced to meet new per capita consumption goals set by the company. This is detailed in the article inside the magazine, which is included with this artwork.
Created by Texas artist Ben James, this piece is signed and dated and comes from the artist private collection. It is one of several pieces the artist did for Dr Pepper over the years. If you are a fan or a collector of Dr Pepper, you’ll appreciate this original painting.
