This lovely Victorian antique wood corbel was originally salvaged from a home in New Orleans. These distinctive architectural elements are one of the most beloved features of the late nineteenth century homes of the area. This elaborately shaped and scrolled bracket is made of solid Pine wood. It was most likely used to support an overhanging porch roof, from one of the shotgun houses New Orleans is so well known for. The corbel has been stripped of its painted finish, allowing us to see its original wood grain and construction.
These architectural elements make for great decorative items. Mount it on a wall or place it on shelf. This particular corbel would also make a splendid bracket to support a wall mounted table or console table.
