This antique Naga Buddha statue is known as “Phra Naga Prok”. Often referred to as the Saturday Buddha, it shows a meditating Buddha under the protection of Muchalinda, the Naga king of serpents.
Cast in bronze, this exquisitely detailed statue is made up of two pieces. The meditating figure of Buddha that rest on the base and under the cover of Muccalinda, the nine headed serpent figure. Each piece of the antique Naga Buddha statue is filled with a mortar or cement type of material, adding to its already heavy weight.
