This beautiful antique curved glass countertop showcase is from the late 19th early 20th century. This handsome store fixture is especially nice because its flanked on each end with a taller shelf area that is topped with a gable roof, sometimes called cathedral towers or steeples. It also has the wonderful German silver (nickel) corner fittings and details. This was considered and extra feature in which the customer paid for. The glass appears to be original as it has that wavy and bubble look, that you want to see on a true antique showcase.
The display case was made by the H. Pauk & Sons in St Louis, Missouri. Highly regarded in its time, they were well known for their showcases, store and bank fixtures, as well as bar and saloon fixtures. The makers mark is engraved on the front nickel badge and the two of the molding details. This is shown in the photos.
This type of store display is one of the finest designed antique showcases ever made. Due to their high cost to make, they were only found in the best of shops. Those included local mercantile stores, pharmacies and candy shops from around the turn of the century. Today they are perfect store fixtures for boutiques, salons and jewelry shops. These are also perfect for the collector who wants to present his valued collection.
